They joined the First Baptist Church of Fairfield Bay where Jim served as a Deacon, youth Sunday school teacher, and head of the hospitality committee. Susan taught music for the Mountain View School District and Jim opened a fish guiding service. After retiring, they moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. They moved to Sharpsville, IN, where Jim worked at a factory in Kokomo and Susan taught school at the Tri Central School Corporation. Susan was a music major and received a position as a music teacher after graduation. In college, Jim met his lovely wife, Susan McGinnis. He also holds the school record for the longest field goal made. Jim received a college scholarship and was the kicker at Arkansas A & M College in Monticello, Arkansas. He still holds the record for the school’s longest field goal. Jim attended Eastern High School during the run of undefeated football games in the 1960’s. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Susan, Jim is survived by his two daughters, Tina Yundt (T.J.), Leslie Karabin (Rob) granddaughter, Jessica Kemper (William) and great-grandson, Jaxson granddaughter, Sarah Yundt (David) and great-grandson, Bentley and great-granddaughter, Ava step-grandson, Blake Karabin (Aly) step-granddaughters, Paisley and Zoey Karabin brothers, John Calaway (Jo) and Greg Calaway (Edie) brother-in-law, Paul Wellenberger (Cindy) and numerous nieces and nephews who will always remember their Uncle Jim as the one that teased them all the time and a large extended family, as well as, numerous dear friends. On December 21, 1967, he married Susan McGinnis, and she survives. Jim was preceded in his death by his parents and his sister Cindy Wellenberger. Jim was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on August 1, 1947, to James and Nell Calaway. James “Jim” Tolbert Calaway Jr., age 75, of Kokomo, IN, went to be with the Lord on the morning of December 6, 2022.
